Jordana Brewster was born with an impressive set of genes, with her grandfather being the former President of Yale University, her father being an investment banker and her mother a former Sports Illustrated model. Both her grandfathers were ambassadors to Great Britain, allowing Jordana to live in several cities during her childhood. Surprisingly, despite her career in acting, Jordana still managed to prove that a sexy figure and acting talent is not all she possesses.
Although born in Panama City, Jordana was raised both in London, England and in Rio de Janeiro. Being raised in two completely different yet vibrant cities gave Jordana the opportunity to learn both English and Portuguese. Today, she proudly claims that she is fluent in both languages.
At the age of ten, the Brewster family decided to move once again, only this time to Manhattan. Here, Jordana studied in an all-girl Catholic School called Sacred Heart. She then continued her studies at Professional Children’s School found in New York.
While still studying, Jordana began to make a name for herself by appearing in a couple of daytime TV’s longest-running soap operas, “As the World Turns” and “All My Children”. She also became a co-star in the NBC mini-series “The 60’s” in 1999.
By 1998, Jordan decided that it was time to move to film. Her role as “Delilah Profitt” in the film “The Faculty” introduced her to Hollywood. However, it was her role as “Mia Toretto” that really caught Hollywood’s attention.
The blockbuster hit “The Fast and the Furious” in 2001 was the movie that led Jordana to reach stardom. Her breakthrough role in the high budget car-themed action film gained worldwide success. Her wide recognition was also followed up by another Fast and the Furious installment in 2009.
However, what makes Jordana more than a talented actress is what she pursued aside from her career. She continued to attend school at the prestigious Yale University, taking up a variety of courses such as English, film studies, sociology and electrical engineering. She finally graduated together with the Yale Class of 2003 with a degree in English.
Graduation allowed Brewster to focus on her return to acting. She landed lead roles in movies such as “D.E.B.S” in 2004 with “Annapolis” and the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” that came out both in 2006. Her most recent projects are the fifth and sixth installment of “The Fast and the Furious” franchise entitled “Fast Five” and “Fast and Furious 6” that reprised her role as Mia Toretto.
Jordana is married to fellow actor and movie producer Andrew Form, whom she met on the set of the “Texan Chainsaw Massacre”. Jordana has also been ranked several times on the Hot 100 list of Maxim Magazine. She was also ranked as one of the sexist women in Stuff Magazine’s list in 2002.
For a girl who didn’t have a license when she received driving lessons for the film that made her an instant hit, Jordana Brewster has made her mark in Hollywood history. With her eyes set to star in the TV Series “Dallas”, Jordana still has a lot on her hands. This raven-haired beauty is indeed up to speed when it comes to rubbing elbows with Hollywood stars.
